Jayapura (Thomas) – The Indonesian National Sports Committee of the Province of Papua (KONI) continues to monitor the health of XX PON athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Papua KONI Province Secretary-General Kenius Kogoya told Antara by phone in Jayapura Monday that after COVID-19, KONI really protected its athletes, especially those who prepared to participate in the XX PON in 2021.
“That is why we prepare everything through training centers, as equipment to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” he said.

According to Kenius, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, during the pandemic, athletes do not conduct training in public places.
“In addition, we have also prepared a place for hand washing, masks, hand sanitizers and vitamins for these athletes,” he said.
He explained that KONI continues to strive for these athletes to continue to stand out despite the current pandemic.
“Despite all the existing limitations, we are trying to ensure that athletes can exercise optimally, but still maintain their safety during a pandemic,” he said.
He added that PON is history for Papua, so he expects athletes and officials to maintain health protocols so that by 2021 this national sporting event goes smoothly.
