“So far, only Faathir and Rizky Juniansyah have definitely made it to the Junior Lifting World Championship,” said national weightlifting training head coach Dirdja Wihardja when contacted by reporters on Saturday.

Faathir and Rizky are two very reliable junior lifters because they tend to look impressive in several championships.

At the 2020 Asian Youth and Junior Lifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in February, for example, Faathir, who fell in the 61 kg category, managed to contribute three gold medals by breaking the youth world record, ie clean and jerk from 153 kg to 154 kg and a total strength of 272. kg to 273 kg.

Likewise, Rizky Juniansyah, who won three gold medals in the youth category. He also broke two world records for youth in the 73 kg category. Two records he broke, namely, the rapture from 138 kg to 139 kg and total lifting from 306 kg to 307 kg.

Even so, Dirdja said that it is possible for the PP PABSI to send other junior national training lifters, as well as region lifters in the online championship.

“We are still waiting for the match rules that are being discussed by the IWF. When the regulation is completed, we will immediately open the opportunity for the region’s lifters to participate, as long as they have quite good achievements, ”he said.

Lifter Indonesia was scheduled to compete in the junior world weightlifting championship in Bucharest, Romania, last March. However, the championship had to be postponed due to the spread of the corona virus, which at the time began to spread to several countries in Asia and Europe.

In addition, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has also announced that the youth weightlifting world championship, originally held in Peru, from 11 to 18 November, has been canceled.
